Reach Your Full Potential on the Course

North West Physiotherapy offers golf physio across Brisbane’s northside, with specialist assessments available at our Carseldine and Keperra clinics.

We use the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) framework to assess how your body moves through the swing, identify what’s limiting your performance or causing pain, and put together a targeted treatment plan.

Most golfers come to us when something has been hurting long enough to affect their game, or when they’ve noticed their distance and consistency dropping off with no obvious explanation. Both problems usually have a physical cause. That’s what we’re here to find.

Who Golf Physiotherapy is for

This is for golfers who are done guessing. If you’ve plateaued and can’t work out why, or if you’re managing your game around pain instead of playing it properly, the answer is usually physical.

  • Golfers managing a niggling injury that flares up during or after a round
  • Golfers whose distance or consistency has dropped off without an obvious cause
  • Golfers who want to ensure their body can keep up with the passion into retirement
  • Golfers whose coaching hasn’t produced the changes it should, which often points to a physical limitation rather than a technical one
  • Anyone curious about their game, whether you’re a 20-plus handicapper or playing off scratch

You don’t need to be in pain to book. Plenty of golfers come to us purely to find an edge.

What to Expect from Your First Golf Physio Session

We start with a conversation about what brings you in, your history, goals, and any pain you may be experiencing.

Next, we do a physical assessment to identify restrictions in mobility, stability, and strength that affect your swing.

You leave with a clear picture of what’s limiting you and a structured plan to address it, whether that’s treatment, a home exercise program, or both.

The full assessment runs 60 to 90 minutes. Wear something you can move in and bring your clubs if you’ve got them handy.

Golf Coach vs Golf Physio?

A golf coach works on technique, but if your body can’t physically get into the positions your coach is asking for, no amount of lessons will fix it.

That’s where golf physio comes in. We assess what your body can and can’t do, then work with you to build the physical capacity your swing actually needs. Plenty of golfers get the most out of their game by doing both, physio to free up the movement, coaching to put it to work.

Golf Physio Brisbane FAQs

What is golf physiotherapy?

Golf physiotherapy uses a golf-specific assessment framework to identify the physical causes behind swing pain or performance problems. Rather than treating pain in isolation, a golf physio looks at how your body moves through the swing, works out what’s limiting or loading it, and builds a plan around those findings. At North West Physiotherapy, assessments use the TPI framework and, at Carseldine, a golf simulator to connect findings directly to your swing.

Do I need to be in pain to book a golf physio assessment?

No. The assessment suits golfers managing injury and golfers who simply want to play better. If your distance has dropped, your swing has become inconsistent, or your coaching isn’t sticking, the cause may be physical.

Which clinics offer golf physio?

Golf physio is available at our Carseldine and Keperra clinics. John is the specialist at Carseldine, home to the simulator. Tom is the specialist at Keperra. No referral is needed at either location.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly online or by phone. If you have a referral from a GP or specialist, bring it along, it may assist with your claim.

How long does the assessment take?

Around 60 to 90 minutes, covering the movement screen and the simulator swing analysis. Wear comfortable clothing and bring your clubs if you have them.

Can I hire the simulator without booking an assessment?

Yes. Casual simulator hire is available separately from $30 to $40 per hour, Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm and Saturday 7am to 3pm. Book online or call the Carseldine clinic.

How long does recovery from a golf injury take?

It depends on the injury. Many soft tissue conditions improve meaningfully within four to six weeks of targeted treatment and exercise. More complex or long-standing problems take longer. Your physio will give you a realistic timeline once they’ve seen your assessment results.
