At North West Physio we want to keep you performing at your peak on the field or court – no matter what your sport or arena is.

Sports injury prevention goes beyond a standard reactive approach to injuries and involves having an injury screening done before or during the season by an expert Physiotherapist.

That means we can assess for any obvious risk factors that may impede your performance or increase the risk of injury and develop an evidence-based management strategy to keep you off the treatment table and at the top of your game.

In addition to working with patients to prevent injuries, our physiotherapists across Brisbane’s northside can also treat and manage a range of sporting injuries and will help you get back to doing what you love as quickly as possible.

Physio for Sports Injuries

At North West Physiotherapy our physiotherapists have experience treating more complex, chronic and difficult cases.

Some common sporting injuries we treat and manage often include:

  • Ankle sprains
  • ACL tears
  • Muscle strains
  • Stress fractures
  • Overuse injuries, such as Achilles Tendinitis or Lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow)

Sports Injury Screening

An injury screening session is carried out to analyse any discrepancies between sides of the body or from normal measures.

Injury Screening Sessions can include:

  • Posture assessment
  • Flexibility assessment
  • Strength tests
  • Gait assessments
  • Functional movement tests specific to the sport
  • Your physio will use this assessment to flag any areas of concern and to provide you with advice and a customised exercise program.

The measures will also be used as a base for reassessment in the future and to monitor progress.

Athletes We Can Help

We’ve worked with elite athletes from several sports including field hockey, rugby league, basketball, triathlon and cycling.

But you also don’t need to be at the professional level to benefit from treatment from our experienced sports Physios. In addition to treating common sports injuries or ailments, we also offer preventative injury assessments for:

  • School-aged sports people
  • Amateur athletes
  • People who participate in club sports such as netball, hockey, rugby or soccer
