At North West Physio, we’ve introduced a video physiotherapy consultation service for any new or existing patients who may be impacted by Coronavirus.

So, if you’re in pain or uncomfortable, and asking “what if I can’t make it to my appointment?” and “is there anything I can do from home if I can’t come in?”, please do not worry, we can still help you.

While video consultations aren’t suitable for every condition, they can help many patients with self-treatment strategies, acute injury assessment, exercise prescription and progression and ergonomic advice for those setting up home work stations.

What to Expect

It’s true, there are some conditions that may require hands on physiotherapy treatment, but we can also provide a lot of assistance and relief via video, especially if you are in desperate need and are unable to leave your house!

A video consultation is basically the same as normal consultation – just without the hands-on element.

Video Consultations can include:

  • Discussion about new or existing symptoms being experienced
  • Patient performing certain movements so the physio can diagnose or track conditions
  • Provide advice regarding the best course of action for self-treatment or pain relief
  • Comprehensive review of a patient’s exercises and their plan for returning to full function
  • Advice and guidance for people setting up a home workstation

Referrals for imaging or to other health professionals can also be arranged if required.

What Software do we use for video consultations?

We encourage patients to use software and devices they are familiar with, and if they have never used video chat before we can help them set up FaceTime or Google Duo depending on their preferred device.

On our iPad we can use:

FaceTime

Skype

Google Duo

Zoom

Physitrack Logo

PhysiTrack

FAQs

Do I need any equipment at home for a video consult?

No – just the space of a small lounge room or bedroom. It may be useful to have a chair available and a mat for the floor.

What sort of space will I need to set up for the video consult?

If you could have an ipad/phone set up on a stand so that we can see you performing your exercises on the floor that is ideal.

Are video consults still able to be claimed through my health insurance?

Unfortunately not, so we have priced them at a heavily discounted rate to counteract this.

Do video consultations cost the same as a regular appointment?

The first one is free!  2nd consult is $50 then $42 for any further consults.

How do book a video consult?

You will need to book these over the phone, just let us know when you book in that it will need to be a video call.
