Looking for a trusted provider who can offer NDIS physiotherapy in Eatons Hill?
In this blog, we cover the 5 key steps to accessing physiotherapy under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) along with more information about the relevant services that our Eatons Hill clinic provides.
How to access NDIS physiotherapy
NDIS physiotherapy can help people with a disability to improve their quality of life and live more independently. Here are the steps to access NDIS physiotherapy:
Step 1 – Make sure you are eligible for NDIS funding.
If you have a permanent disability that causes problems with functions such as mobility, strength, or agility, you may be eligible for NDIS physiotherapy.
The basic requirements include:
- being between the age of 7 and 65,
- being an Australian citizen,
- permanent visa holder, or hold a protected special category visa,
- living in Australia and having a permanent disability that has significantly affected your ability to take part in everyday activities.
Check your eligibility on the website here.
Step 2 – Find a registered NDIS provider
Physiotherapists who provide services under the NDIS must be registered with the scheme for you to be able to claim your appointments under NDIS.
North West Physiotherapy located in Eatons Hill, Brisbane is an example of a registered Physiotherapist. Want to make an appointment? Book online here or call (07) 3333 1646.
Step 3 – Find out the Services provided under the NDIS provider
Not every provider may offer the services you require. It’s important to enquire with the potential service provider.
NDIS Physiotherapy services provided by our Eatons Hill practice for example include in-house strengthening and rehabilitation, home visits, hydrotherapy, and report/letter writing.
Additionally, they’ve had extensive experience treating conditions such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, traumatic and acquired brain injuries, cerebral palsy, and autism spectrum disorder.
Step 4 – Contact the provider to make an appointment.
Once you have found a suitable provider, contact them to arrange an initial consultation. Before you attend your appointment, it’s important to prepare any scans, medical reports, and NDIS funding approval documents you may have to ensure a smooth appointment.
A good practice while enquiring would be to ask your provider how much the service costs ensuring it is within the NDIS price limits, so you don’t receive a price shock at your appointment.
Our North West Physiotherapy clinics such as our Eatons Hill clinic ensure that NDIS service billing strictly follows the NDIS price limits.
Step 5 – Attend your appointment and discuss your goals.
During your first appointment, your North West physio will ask about your impairments and current struggles, your goals, and explain how we can help you achieve these through physiotherapy.
We’ll then complete a few assessments to establish a set of baseline data to track your improvements against.
Depending on your location and equipment available at home, NDIS physiotherapy may also be completed in your home.
Once your assessment is complete, your physiotherapist will develop a tailored treatment plan that works best for you.
Typically, NDIS plans are reviewed annually, however, sometimes a plan can be made which will last multiple years.
Your therapist will then provide you with a service agreement after your initial consultation outlining the terms of receiving physiotherapy under the NDIS
