Question:
What does an exercise physiologist do?
Answer:
An exercise physiologist specialises in the prescription of exercise as a treatment or management method for those who are at risk of, or living with a chronic disease, illness, or injury.
After a thorough assessment during the initial consultation and by keeping up to date with the most recent industry findings, they are able to deliver an individualised exercise or lifestyle modification program.
Question:
How can an exercise physiologist help, and what can patients benefit from seeing you?
Answer:
We provide assistance to a broad range of client types such as those requiring rehabilitation following an injury, clients needing to return to work or sport programs, and clients living with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, arthritis, chronic pain and diabetes just to name a few.
Question:
What credentials do you possess as an exercise physiologist?
Answer:
As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), I have completed a four-year university degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology and hold membership and accreditation with Exercise & Sport Science Australia (ESSA). To maintain accreditation, I must acquire 20 continuing professional development points per year, hold a valid blue card, and first aid and CPR certifications.
In addition to these, I have also completed qualifications in Hydrotherapy and Pilates (mat-work, reformer and small equipment) to incorporate into my practice.
Question:
Why do you love working as an exercise physiologist at North West Physio Eatons Hill?
Answer:
The team here at Eatons Hill are wonderful, Ben (owner and lead physiotherapist) have done a great job of creating a hard-working, professional and friendly team who all have their client’s best interests at heart.
I have always enjoyed working in collaboration with and providing joint care alongside physiotherapy, and I’m so happy to do this with a great team!
Question:
Is it necessary to have a referral from a doctor to see you,?
Answer:
There are a number of ways to visit North West Physio Eatons Hill for exercise physiology services including referral from your GP, Physio or you may want to self-refer.
A referral from your GP may come in the form of a GP Management Plan under Medicare for anyone with a chronic condition. I am also able to provide treatment under a number of other compensable schemes including DVA, Private Health, NDIS and WorkCover.
Your physio may refer on to me during the treatment process if they deem it necessary. If you think you might benefit from exercise physiology privately, it is important to first check that your health fund cover includes exercise physiology, and that the reason for you visit is to help prevent, delay, or improve a chronic disease or injury.
Question:
How can patients schedule a session with you?
Answer:
You can easily book through the website via our online booking system or call and speak to one of our friendly receptionists. Please allow one hour for initial consultations and 30 minutes for subsequent sessions.
