Causes of Hip Pain

Hip pain can be caused by a number of conditions, including:

  • Broken hip bones
  • Strained muscle or tendon: Can be caused by overuse or repeated activities.
  • Trochanteric Bursitis: When the bursa (fluid-filled sac) at the greater trochanter is inflamed. Read more here.

Hip Pain Physio Exercises

Before you start any exercise program or treatment plan, it’s vital to see a health professional and obtain a proper diagnosis.

If a patient has been diagnosed with Gluteal Tendinopathy, we commonly include the following exercises in their treatment plan:

  1. Bridges
  2. Step Ups
  3. Single Leg Lifts
  4. Single Leg Squats

When treating someone who has been diagnosed with Trochanteric Bursitis, their treatment might include:

  1. Gluteal Stretch
  2. Iliotibial band stretch – Standing
