Why is Strength Training Important?

As we get older, we begin to lose muscle size and strength. This may begin to impact the way we enjoy our daily lives. We may find we can’t walk as far as we once use to, standing up from a chair is hard or hanging up the washing is quite tiring. Research has proven that strength training in elderly individuals is not only safe, but improves the size and strength of muscles to assist with activities for daily living. In postmenopausal women, strength training can slow or prevent the development of osteoporosis and in the frail, can prevent falls from occurring.

How can North West Physiotherapy Nundah help you?

At North West Physiotherapy Nundah, we run elderly strength and balance exercise classes to assist our patients to gain strength to achieve their goals. Classes consist of a maximum of 5 participants and the program is provided and supervised by our experienced physiotherapist. Our programs are tailored to cater for all levels of fitness.

About our Strength & Balance Class

Who should participate?  – Anyone looking to improve their mobility, strength, balance and flexibility in their later years

Date & Time – Tuesdays 12.15 pm (Further classes to be added)

Cost – $30 per session (Claimable with private health fund)

What to wear?  – Clothing which you can comfortably move in and closed-in shoes

What to bring?  – Towel, water bottle
