At North West Physio, we understand that physiotherapy for women’s health can be complex and cover many conditions.
Women experience unique health challenges due to their anatomy, physiology, lifestyles, and environmental influences.
To support our female patients, we offer comprehensive physiotherapy treatments and services specifically tailored to their health needs.

This blog looks at the comprehensive range of care we provide for women’s health including treatments, and pre-natal and post-natal physiotherapy.

Physiotherapist women’s health: providing a whole-body approach
When providing treatment for women’s health, North West Physio takes a whole-body approach – focused on the individual (individualised care) and where they are.
Assessments include discussing our client’s full history and discussing any concerns.
It may also involve an internal pelvic floor examination if needed and appropriate, advice and education, and a plan moving forward (this may include some home exercise).
We even have a real-time ultrasound available to our clients.
Women’s health physiotherapist for pre-natal care
At North West Physio, we are dedicated to helping women during pregnancy
and guiding them from beginning to end.
We know this time can be a mixture of emotions and physical changes and we are committed to helping prepare our soon-to-be mothers with:
- Birth preparation including pelvic floor for birth.
- Guidance throughout pregnancy changes/stages with appropriate exercises (including high-risk pregnancies or people that haven’t been exercising before.)
- Treatment for different symptoms including; back pain, sciatic pain, pelvic girdle (pubic symphysis) pain, neck pain and headaches, pelvic floor symptoms (e.g. leaking.)
Post-natal physio for women’s health
As with pre-natal, we believe it is important to support our clients who have just had a baby by helping with:
- 6-week Women’s Health check-up – we emphasise this is just as important as having an Obstetrician or Midwife check in at that time (including pelvic floor and safe return to exercise.)
- Assess and help with any concerns you may have post-birth (may include discussing your birthing – if you had any tears, forceps etc.)
- C-section recovery week-by-week, scar recovery and self-massage guidance, managing and guidance post-C-section recovery and pain.
- Assessing and managing abdominal separation (diastasis recti), as well as strengthening and recovery of the core muscles.
- Helping with other conditions/symptoms, including; bladder and bowel incontinence, prolapse, pain (pelvic floor, wrist, neck and shoulders, back, pelvis, etc), posture, and mastitis.
- Safe return to exercise, guidance, preparation, and clearance to go back to running.
Women’s & men’s health physiotherapy
Some of the above issues can also affect men, and we are also committed to providing the same compassion and care to our male clients in issues including:
- Pre- and post-prostate surgery for men
- Bowel symptoms
- Pelvic floor strengthening and preparation for surgery
